How to setup Bondix Hosted Essential

Before You Start

We recommend following each step of this guide in order and verifying that every step has been completed successfully. This helps ensure that your router is configured correctly and that the Bondix tunnel can be established and used without issues.

Purchasing Bondix Hosted Essential

First, purchase a Bondix Essential Hosted product that meets your requirements.

In this guide, we will use our Bondix Hosted Essential – Free 48h Trial as an example. This free trial allows you to set up and test Bondix Hosted Essential before purchasing a regular subscription.

Steps:

1. Visit the Bondix Webshop and navigate to the Bondix Hosted Essential – Free 48h Trial
2. Click on "Login to view price", enter your email address and check your emails for the 6-digit login code which you should receive within 5 minutes. Check your spam folder too.
3. Enter the 6-digit login code from your email in the browser.
4. Choose the region closest to you, fill in an order reference in the "Order Notes" if required from your side, and click "Add to cart". For other products, you may also choose another quantity than "1", depending on how many routers you wish to connect.
5. Click "View cart".
6. Proceed to checkout by clicking "Check out". If you choose another Bondix Hosted Service product (e.g. a Bondix Hosted Essential 7-Day Pass or a Bondix Hosted Essential Subscription), you will now be required to enter payment details and, in the right column, you may enter a discount code if applicable.
7. Click "Review order" and check once more if you're satisfied with your order details.
8. Click "Pay now".

After completing your order, you will receive a QuickConnect Code via email to the email address you used for the purchase. You will need this code to activate and configure the Bondix tunnel in the Bondix Client settings on your Teltonika router.

Installing the Bondix Client

Since Teltonika RutOS 07.24 was published in July 2026, installing Bondix became a lot easier. We will guide you through both installation processes, Teltonika RutOS 07.24 and later, as well as pre-07.24 in case you are not allowed to upgrade to the latest stable RutOS version yet.

Router Configuration

Before installing Bondix on your Teltonika router and configuring your Bondix tunnel, make sure that your Teltonika router is properly set up and ready for use.

(Optional:) Factory Reset and Device Recovery

For a clean and straightforward setup, we recommend performing a Factory Reset before configuring the router for Bondix. This removes previous configuration settings that could interfere with the new setup. Should you skip this step now, you may always revisit it in case you experience problems with your router or tunnel later.

For information about recovering your router, visit: Teltonika Device Recovery Options Select your Teltonika router model and follow the recovery instructions provided by Teltonika. After resetting or recovering the device, allow approximately 2–3 minutes for the router to restart.

LAN Configuration

Log into your router's RutOS WebUI using your admin credentials.

During LAN Configuration, we recommend changing the default LAN IP address to reduce the risk of address conflicts with other networks. For example, instead of 192.168.1.1, you could use 192.168.20.1.

Make sure that the DHCP server remains enabled if connected devices should automatically receive an IP address from the router.

Under Global Settings, select:

• the country in which the router is currently being used;
• whether the router is installed indoors or outdoors.

RMS can also remain enabled; this does not prevent the Bondix tunnel from being configured.

After applying the configuration:

1. Disconnect your computer from the router.
2. Reconnect the Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection.
3. Wait until your computer receives an IP address from the new network.
4. Open the new router IP address in your browser, e.g. https://192.168.20.1
5. Log in again with your admin credentials.

Choosing the right Teltonika firmware

Before installing the Bondix Client, we recommend checking which firmware version your Teltonika router is running and, ideally, updating to the latest stable.

Checking the Installed Firmware Version

Open the Teltonika RutOS WebUI and navigate to: System → Firmware → Update Firmware

Check the version displayed under Current Firmware Information.

If a newer stable firmware version is available, we recommend updating the router before proceeding with the Bondix installation as we recommend to always choose the latest version! If, for some reason, this is not possible for you, proceed with the instructions under "Teltonika RutOS Pre-07.24".

Recommendation: We recommend performing the firmware update while your computer is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. This provides a more stable connection during the update process.

Important: The firmware update may take several minutes. During this time, the router and internet connection may temporarily be unavailable.

Teltonika RutOS 07.24 and later

Open the Teltonika RutOS WebUI and navigate to: System → Firmware → Update Firmware

Navigate to Update Device Firmware, select Update from Server, activate "Keep settings on" and click "Update" right beside "Flash image".

Wait until the process has been completed and proceed under Installing the Bondix Client --> RutOS 07.24 and later.

Teltonika RutOS Pre-07.24

Updating your Teltonika router firmware

Find the desired RutOS pre-07.24 firmware versions for the different router models at the official Teltonika Firmware Downloads page by selecting your specific router model.

In the RutOS WebUI, navigate to Update Device Firmware, select Update from File, click Browse, and select the firmware image that matches your Teltonika router model. It should end with "[...]_WEBUI.bin".

Start the update, wait until the process has been completed, and proceed under "Installing the Bondix Client --> Pre-07.24".

Installing the Bondix Client

Once the router firmware has been checked or updated, the Bondix Client can be installed.

RutOS 07.24 and later

Navigate to: System → Package Manager -> Third party packages and find "Bondix by SIMA GmbH". [[File:Tel-0724-general-desktop.png|frame|center]

Click Install and wait for the installation to complete. If a reboot is requested after the installation, allow the router to restart before continuing.

As soon as the Bondix Client was installed successfully, a new Bondix menu item will appear under: Network → Bondix.

Pre-07.24

Find the latest Bondix client for your Teltonika device and Teltonika RutOS version here in our wiki at: Downloads#Teltonika Routers

Please download the client which PRECISELY matches your device and RutOS version. The Bondix Client for RutOS 07.23.4 is NOT suited for routers running on RutOS 07.23.3 - the numbers MUST match EXACTLY.

After you downloaded the matching client, use the Teltonika package manager in the System menu to install the Bondix Client

and confirm the installation:

As soon as the Bondix Client was installed successfully, a new Bondix menu item will appear under: Network → Bondix.

Configuring the Bondix Client

Before setting up and configuring your Bondix Hosted Essential tunnel, we recommend checking the following router settings.

Disable Load Balancing

Teltonika's Load Balancing functionality must be deactivated when using Bondix.

Load Balancing distributes traffic between multiple internet connections directly on the router. Bondix performs its own management and bonding of the available WAN connections. Running both mechanisms at the same time may therefore negatively affect Bondix performance and functionality.

Navigate to: Network → Failover → MultiWAN

Open the Interface section and check the current MultiWAN configuration. Make sure that Load Balancing is not enabled.

Configure Public DNS Servers

For proper internet access while the Bondix tunnel is used, your Teltonika router will need a dedicated DNS server configuration besides the server addresses your router may obtain from the used carriers.

Configure DNS forwarding to at least one public DNS server to ensure reliable DNS resolution through the Bondix tunnel.

Go to Network → DNS and add one or more public DNS servers:

For example:

• 8.8.8.8 – Google Public DNS
• 9.9.9.9 – Quad9
• 1.1.1.1 – Cloudflare DNS

Using more than one DNS server provides an alternative if one of the configured DNS services is temporarily unavailable. Save and apply the configuration after adding the DNS servers.

Important: Make sure that at least one public DNS server is configured before proceeding with the Bondix tunnel setup.

Activate the Bondix Hosted Essential tunnel

Go to Network → Bondix → Settings.

Enable the Connection (button) and select Quick Connect as the configuration type.

Quick Connect

For Bondix Essential Hosted, use the configuration type Quick Connect. Quick Connect provides a simple way to connect your Bondix Client to your Bondix Managed Server without having to manually enter the individual server configuration parameters. Other configuration types, such as Manual Configuration, are intended for different Bondix setups, for example when using your own hosted server with a corresponding Bondix license.

Now, copy the QuickConnect Code from the email you received after your purchase and enter it into the “Connection Code” input field.

At least one interface must be enabled for the Bondix tunnel to be established.

If multiple internet connections are available, we recommend enabling multiple interfaces. Bondix can then combine these connections and use them together through the tunnel.

Click Save Configuration → Restart Service

Important: Whenever you make changes to the Bondix configuration, click Save Configuration first and then Restart Service to apply the new settings.

Verify the Connection

After restarting the service, wait a moment for the Bondix tunnel to establish.

Right here, in Network → Bondix → Settings, you can see whether the selected interfaces are active and whether the Bondix tunnel has been established successfully.

Setup complete! Your Bondix Hosted Essential tunnel is now ready to use.

(Advanced:) my.bondix.cloud

Under my.bondix.cloud, you can see all the Bondix product you purchased or licensed to a specific email address. Just visit my.bondix.cloud, enter said email address and allow the system to send you a login link to this email address within 5 minutes.
